The Paleo lifestyle encourages a way of life that closely resembles that of our primitive hunter-gatherer ancestors. Many people may be shocked at the alarming amount of meat found in Paleo recipes. Whatever the case may be, most recipes include a diet that is rich with meats; therefore, eating a lot of protein is essential in completing this diet. Depending on the plan that you are following, some Paleo experts suggest only eating free range, organic meats, while others are less strict about the provenance of your protein.

High protein Paleo recipes are often low in carbohydrate content. Grains and sugars should be almost entirely avoided by people who are aiming to make this lifestyle change. This means that eating almost any processed foods are discouraged in Paleo recipes, as is drinking soda, alcohol or juice of any kind. Many of these foods are mass-produced and are therefore thought to contain unnatural ingredients which are difficult to digest. When deciding which products are acceptable, it is always a good idea to ask one simple question: Would my ancestors have recognized this as food?

While refined sugar is frowned upon, many Paleo recipes contain naturally sweet ingredients. Followers of this lifestyle are encouraged to incorporate large amounts of fruits, vegetables and berries into their diets. Again, some Paleo recipes suggest that you stick to organic, locally grown, in season options, while others maintain that these foods can come in any form, including frozen, canned or reheated variations. To some extent, the area in which you live will dictate whether you can recreate Paleo recipes using only locally grown produce, or whether you will need to branch out and consider imported and frozen produce.

As mentioned earlier, saturated fat from animal meat is needed in these Paleo recipes. Instead of milk, butter or heavy cream make regular appearances. Whatever the case may be, it is important that a lot of saturated fat is included in this kind of dietary plan.

Like all successful diet plans, people need to consider that fact that proper exercise should be done. Some of the most devoted Paleolithic adherents also adopt a workout regimen that is thought to be based more closely on the workouts of our ancestors. Instead of jogging or doing endurance sports, activity is meant to be done quickly and vigorously. Master Cleanse Diet Recipe – Recipe To Success

Many people are interested in using the master cleanse diet recipe as a way to lose weight and detox their body. It has helped thousands of people over the years and seems to be the one diet and cleansing recipe that can handle the balance between working and being non harmful. Every one is different and everyone will react differently, but with all the successes many people have experienced, you will most likely have great success too.

This cleanse is also referred to as the lemonade diet, the cayenne pepper diet and the maple syrup diet, obviously because of it’s main ingredients. The whole idea is to use these ingredients to wash the harmful toxins from your system and ‘reset’ your internal balance.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with what this diet entails, here is a brief overview. You may not realize it but most people actually have a a large amount of toxins in their systems. These toxins can run the gambit and cause minor, or major, health issues. Some of the most common issues are things like fatigue and constipation. Eliminating these toxins is the primary focus of the master cleanse.

You will stay on this liquid diet for a few days, depending on your results. You will drink the master cleanse for several days. Prior to starting the cleanse it’s usually helpful to set a start date and get yourself in the right mindset. You will need to take a laxative on the day before you start your diet since the cleanse doesn’t have any fiber.

Drink one 8 ounce serving every 4 hours while on the cleanse. While on the cleanse you will not be eating any solid foods, you’ll just be drinking the lemonade mixutre. You will stay on the cleanse for 2 to 4 days.

Now, on to the diet mixture recipe. The recipe is made up of commonly found household items. You don’t need to buy any difficult to find products in order to make a cleansing mixture.

Here are the ingredients:

1. Fresh lemons

2. Maple Syrup

3. Cayenne Pepper Powder

4. Water

You can use this recipe to make a full pitcher of the cleanse ( I will also include a smaller recipe if you want to make an 8 oz. glass size of the cleanse):

12 Tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, 12 Tablespoons of Maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and 60 ozs. of water. Add all ingredients to a pitcher and drink the whole pitcher of lemonade mixture throughout the day.

For smaller glass size (8 ounces) servings use this recipe:

1/2 tablespoon lemon juice, 1/2 tablespoon of maple syrup, 1/16 teaspoon of cayenne pepper powder and 8 ounces of water.

This diet can be done monthly if you so desire. Make sure to stop the diet if you have any allergic or bad reactions. If you have dizziness, muscle cramps, or nausea stop the diet. It’s also a good idea to talk to your doctor before you attempt this type of cleanse, especially if you have any underlying health conditions. Do not use tobacco during this diet cleanse.

How to Properly Clean Cast Iron Cookware

Cast iron cookware has been used for hundreds of years by generations of cooks who love its versatility and even cooking. Cast iron cookware is still popular today with chefs and home cooks. Although cleaning cast iron cookware takes a little longer than other pots and pans, it’s definitely worth the effort. Properly cared-for and cleaned cast iron cookware can last generations.

The first step in cleaning cast iron cookware is to season it for the first time when you purchase it. Cast iron cookware today is covered in the factory with a protective coating, either wax-based or shellac, that must be removed prior to the first use. The easiest way to remove this coating is to scrub your cast iron cookware under water with steel wool and a very small amount of dish soap. This will be the only time you will ever use dish soap on your cast iron cookware as it will interfere with the seasoning process later on.

Once the protective coating has been scrubbed off the cast iron cookware, rinse it thoroughly and empty out the water. Heat the pan on a hot stove until every drop of water has evaporated. A cast iron pan will rust if left wet or damp for any period of time. When the pan is dry and has cooled down, rub the cast iron cookware with either a cooking oil, such as vegetable or canola oil, or vegetable shortening. Do not use butter as it will go rancid. Coat the pan inside and out with the oil and rub off the excess with a paper towel. Treat the pan lid the same way. The oil fills all of the little nooks and crannies in the surface of the cast iron which protects it from water and air and, over time, creates a naturally non-stick cooking surface. If you have ever heard someone complain that food sticks in a cast iron pan, it is because it has not been properly seasoned.

Store the cast iron cookware in a dry cupboard with the lid off to prevent moisture from building up. The cast iron pan is now ready to use the next time.

After you have used your cast iron cookware, remove the food immediately otherwise the food will continue to absorb iron and can pick up an off-flavor. Scrape out any stuck food with a spatula. If food remains in the cast iron, you can soak it in water for no more than 15 minutes, then scrape with the spatula again. Pour a few teaspoons of table salt into the wet pan and scrub with a nylon scrub brush until no food remnants remain. The cast iron pan will still feel and look a bit greasy, but that’s alright as it means that some of the seasoning is still in the pan. Rinse the cast iron pan thoroughly and heat on the stove and re-season as above.

After several uses and seasonings, the cast iron cookware will take on the smooth black appearance of a well-seasoned pan. If cared for properly, your cast iron cookware can last long enough for your children to pass them on to their children and beyond.
